I like what you are doing but add Krill oil it is the best and BCAA and what does the trick for me before training is Beta Alanine it is the bomb. My buddy's website to get all you need is Trueprotien.com I found this is the best for what you need. Even when I was training for Mr. Universe I stayed with the basics but today there is so much more to help us get our goals faster.

Then only reason a person could possibly need to use dietary supplements is because they are ill or their long term background health is compromised in some way.

A diet based on whole foods such as meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, whole grains and fruit and which rules out processed foods as far as possible will give all the nutrients anyone needs and appetite can become the best guide to daily nutrition.

If there is a requirement for chemically isolated supplements for a basically healthy individual, then something is wrong with the training regime and possibly the target for growth is wrong for the body type.
If growth is forced by the use of supplements, the person will become dependent on supplements, which are simply not natural.

Just as a crash dieter will quickly lose weight and then just as quickly pack on the pounds when they begin to seat again, the trainer who uses supplements will quickly lose muscle and fitness without the supplements. It is far better to lay down fitness in many thin layers over a number of months and years, than to try and do it all in one go. Just like paint, fitness is better applied with many thin coats, rather than one thick one, for a good finish that lasts.

The point has already been made regarding the nutritional value of eggs, but whole eggs, not just the albumin (whites). If protein is consumed without fat, it simply will not digest properly, so a protein loading supplement is a waste of money as that which cannot be digested will be eliminated. Cut out the middle man and just flush it down the toilet.

I have eaten 4 raw eggs each day for many years and prior to and during the salmonila scare in the 90s without harm, but make your own judgements on that one.

I think that looks great! When I workout I use an anabolic whey protein powder that is absorbed quicker than the normal kind, but for before bed the normal kind is obviously better so it will last longer through the night.

Elliot, I've been reading you and Mike for a couple of months now thanks for all the ideas. One thought I have is that the pre-bed drink might be better to have casein protein since it is slower digesting and could give your body a more constant overnight protein supply than faster absorbing whey does.

Also a question, is the cod oil more cost-effective than taking pills?

Hey Mike and Elliot,
My supplement regime is as follows every morning i take 2x3000mg of fish oil tablets morning and night+3x 500 mg of vitamin c for breakfast, lunch and tea,3x protein shakes(maxs gte) 2 scoops equals 60 grams protein,2grams of carbs an 1.3 grams of sugar,to that i add 1 heaped teaspoon of creatine(maxs gr8 it has a blend of 8 different creatines)+ 10 grams of pure glutamine powder,+ cup and a half of whole milk only in the morning then water for the last 2 shakes,3x hemotest tabs+2x hemodrene(nutrabolics supplements)pre work-out approx 45 mins before, have also added a whole grapefruit mid afternoon as well.
Since starting this supplementation routine and doing the critical bench program that i started 6 weeks ago i've added 25 kg(55lb) on my bench, all other weights have increased by approx 15-20% my weight is the big factor i have now dropped 8 kg(18lb) and am now holding 20% bodyfat, but have added 6.5 kg(14lb) of lean mass, i'm performing 30 mins of cardio on the xtrainer and i'm literally jumping out of my skin, the glutimine & creatine were only added approx 3 weeks and have already noticed the difference.

regards steve
