Hey Stephan,

Depending on how you use the dumbbell will determine if it's really hybrid or not. A 6 pounder will probably be too heavy starting out. Check out heavyhands walking by leonard schwartz, it talks about what you're wanting to do plus much more. Best of luck.

Guys,
one year ago I bought one of those "walk at home" DVDs, which is basically up to 5 miles to marching in place or from room to room.

I have to say it was a good cardio but then I forgot about it. Since now I need to have a minimalist routine, what if I just added a 6 lbs dumbbell per hand while doing the walk? Would that make the whole workout hybrid?

Hey Elliot
My new years resolution was to get stronger and gain lots of muscle while at the same time trim down and get leaner. I have had a lot of people here at college laugh at my goals and say that it's impossible to gain muscle and lose fat at the same time but I am DETERMINED that I can do it and this program and interview keeps me believing!

Fantastic interview, keep it coming, to build muscle and shed fat at the same time is possible, the training routines and the flexiblity is only limited by your imagination. Great advice on the metabolic side of things with nutrition etc.

cant wait for the next bit.

Cheers Mike

Hi Elliot

I just wanna say, that amount of free information that you are giving us, subscribers is amazingly hudge. You are probably the most generous fitness coach ever.
I really appreciate it!
I'm am going to make a fat loss training plan myself, based on information from you, and from other plans I found online(mostly newsletters information), and my college books ( I study physiotherapy)
Is there any chance, that you could give me a quick opinion on it, when I'm done with it? I would be REALY greatfull! Just send me a quick replay if you have a minute.
Best reguards from Poland!

I used to be a Corrections Officer for 20yrs. I believe that the environment in prison is a high testosterone place. Inmates workout because they are scared that if they let their guard down and get soft they will end up being raped, exploited etc they also work out to get rid of boredom . Also most inmates that are not in close or max security have almost 8hrs a day to workout. The prison I worked in had a power-lifting team. The food in prison isn't as bad as you think. Inmates by law must get 2500 cals. a day plus if they have a job they earn money to buy commisary. They can buy supplements, food, drinks etc.

interesting info here it makes alot of sense though because i've worked with a few former inmates at work and some gained muscle some did not mainly because they would workout everyday and had nothing much else to do this one guy (Brandon) read a lot of books to educate himself and trained with the bench press he got jacked he explained to me that it was a daily routine and was consistent for years this is why they are jacked and hard from the constant hard work. it makes sense doesn't it hard work+consistensy= spectacular results unfortunately not everyone is willing to make the sacrifice and effort in jail they pretty much have to
