What are the best supplements?

There are few topics in fitness more controversial than “What are the best supplements to take?”. Some coaches and athletes take dozens of pills, powders and creams; while others say “supplements are a waste of money and completely useless”.
Through out the course of my career I have bounced from one end of the supplement spectrum to the other. Several years ago I was of the opinion that supplements should be avoided. Today my position has changes slightly, but I am not attached to either conviction.
Below is a list of the supplements that I currently use. Again, I am NOT attached to the use of these supplements and it’s probable that I will change my mind on many of them in the future.
I created this post mainly to get some feedback from YOU. If you have any opinions about the supplements that I am currently using or if you have suggestions as to what else I would benefit from taking… I would love to get your feedback!

Military and Police Workouts

Policemen, firemen and guys in the military have long been looked up to as “poster boys” of optimum fitness. In fact, over the last 15 years or so, there have probably been no less than a hundred different books written on the subject of how any ordinary man can get fit like these guys. And while each of these books or programs has its own approach to getting fit like a policeman, fireman or someone in the military, they all have one thing in common—they don’t look anything like your ordinary gym workouts.
The reason their training routines typically don’t resemble your ordinary workouts is that these guys need to be prepared for any situation. A policeman might suddenly find himself chasing down a suspect, jumping fencings and other obstacles. And when he catches the suspect, he may have to tackle him and wrestle him into submission.

Review of Bull Strength Conditioning

Quick Overview
Bull Strength Conditioning was written by our friend Joe Hashey, CSCS. We explained to Joe a while back that people are so sick and tired of boring traditional cardio because it just doesn’t produce the fat burning results they are looking for.
For those of you following our Lean Hybrid Muscle program you know that goal is to build muscle while burning fat in the same training cycle. In case you’re new here let me just remind you that this is accomplished by combining strength building, muscle growth and hybrid cardio exercises into our programming.
Hybrid cardio is anything that combines cardio with resistance training into the same workout or even the same exercise in order to build the type III muscle fiber.
Having more mitochondria in the muscle cells means that more nutrients can be processed, giving the muscles the ability to work considerably harder for longer periods. They’re also able to grow larger and are able to resist getting tired for longer periods.

Power Building and Resistance Cardio: The Killer Combo!

It never ceases to amaze me how many people have fallen victim to the lie of “isolated results.” Essentially, the idea that fitness, success and life results are created in a vacuum… completely detached and isolated incidences.
For example, many women call me inquiring about fitness training and assert their desire to “lose belly fat” or “get leaner arms”. What they fail to realize is that fat loss, muscle building and all fitness results are the expression of a SYSTEMIC change in their bodies… not just the manipulation of a single muscle or energy system.
As one of my favorite authors Dan John, would say… “The body is one piece.”
We evolve as a whole. All systems… muscular, nervous, cardiovascular and hormonal systems work synergistically to move us in the direction that’s most consistent with our behaviors. Even when we aim to isolate systems, we unexpectedly receive the benefits of advancement in others.
For example, you decide to quit smoking so that you can breathe better. After several months of not smoking you notice an improvement in your cardiovascular abilities, but you ALSO recognize that your skin looks better and your hair has stopped falling out! This is exactly how our body works… we are “one piece”.
