I am a high school year-round powerlifter, and am extremely dedicated in this sport. I am disciplined in my diet, but at one point, I had been committed to a muscle building magazine, followed its tips and advice, and that has helped me to achieve a sick mental attitude for FAR TOO LONG! I took my ultimate dedication, and worked too hard and too often in the gym. So, it's good to develop such a die-hard attitude, knowing that hard work is going to give you the success. But I have decreased my training, folowing the guidelines for proper rest and recovery, while at the same time keeping that all out mind set with my training.

What would be the fine line of having a sick mental attitude of a mind set in your training, and not overtraining?

Would one have more strength and be able to lift more if he strictly received gains in the type II muscle fiber as opposed to the type III. Would there even be a difference in strength gains when focusing on one versus the other?

Elliott and Mike,

I am 45 years old and have a large family so time in the gym is very limited. I do not have access or room to store large truck tires, old dead cars, and beer kegs so to speak. I have been training one day a week and resting six days and ech work out gets more intense and my strength increases doing compound movements with high intensity 6-10 reps 1-2 sets in the gym for 45 minutes. I was wondering if you are going to show how to tap into all the muscle fibers using compound movements and hammer strength equipment? Or what can be done with these compound movements. Resting six days allows me to lift heaver every workout. Thanks for the great video and keep up the good work.

Nice video thanks for sharing. I love the part about the attitude which is where the real results come from.

It is nice to see more of this style of training becoming popular.

I'm with you Joey, isn't it annoying when they can't be bothered to type out at least a brief of what was said in the video?!! It's not always convenient to listen/watch a video even if you can. Anyway, here's what it was about:

Type I

Slow twitch
Fat Burning
Long training oxidative state
High in mitochondria

Type II

Fast Twitch
Glycolytic
Strength\Power Training

Type III

Built like type II but capacity to perform like type I
Builds muscle and burns more fat
Based on ATTITUDE

i.e. if you lift heavy, lift heavy a lot
Mix up the two types of training

All the best

Lucy
Personal Trainer to lots of average/non-sporty types including over 70's!

Good work Mike, the major problem with the Gym fraternity is lack of reliable, scientific and academic information. What you teach not only holds true but also makes sense in the first place. The fact that you're not merely asking anyone to place blind trust in you is all the more useful in proving your credibility.

Hey Elliot,

This was a great video, describing those 2 muscle training types. I have not tried it yet, but now I'm going to. I'm more like the type 2, so I'm gonna try picking up my endurance with my workouts. Awesome program, man!...Keep up the good work, bro!!
