About Mike Westerdal

My name is Mike Westerdal and many of you know me as the founder of one of the biggest weight lifting sites on the Web, CriticalBench.com. Here’s my story and how I got involved with this project.

Like many of you I played sports in high school. I walked on the football team in college and played four years of football. Keeping my body lean and strong during that period of my life wasn’t a problem. After all we had practice, mandatory weight lifting sessions, morning running and a very positive environment for keeping the body in an overall anabolic state.

As the post-college years kept passing by, I found myself being less and less active. Don’t get me wrong I found a new passion and started testing my merit in amateur powerlifting over the past few years and it has kept me really motivated and I do love the competition. But……something is missing. I’ve gotten a lot stronger but I also gained over 25 lbs! It’s kind of embarrassing actually. Here I am preaching on the Internet and trying to help others stay fit and I go right ahead and pack on some un-needed pounds.

lean-strongLet me vent for a second. I’m 33 years young now and over the past few years I’ve felt like I’ve had to chose between being lean and weak or strong and fat. I’m sick of the choice and I want it all. I want to be lean and strong at the same time for good. All this cutting and bulking BS has got to go as far as I’m concerned.

How am I going to accomplish this? Well I’m still working on it but I can tell you one thing, I’m on the right track. I lost 10 lbs of fat in the last 6-weeks without sacrificing any strength or size! I’m focusing on developing hybrid muscle or type III muscle. Along with Elliott, I’m using this blog to share my journey and learn from others that want to join me in the quest to build muscle and burn fat at the same time. If you think it can’t be done, click off this site. If you’re ready to crack the code with us, than enjoy the ride!

About Elliott Hulse

familyHey! My name is Elliott Hulse… First, I am a father to 3 beautiful little chicas and married to my high school sweet-heart Colleen.  In high school Colleen was a cheer leader and I was the captain of the football team.  This is where she and I met and where I fell in love with the woman of my dreams and my life’s calling… to teach men, women and athletes how to achieve maximum health, fitness and vitality.

It all started in the basement of my parents home where I would teach my football team mates how to get stronger and faster for their sports using weight training.  It was during this time that I also decided to accept an athletic scholarship to play football and study exercise physiology in school.

During graduate school I had become very disillusioned with the fitness industry and very frustrated with the lack of consistency between what I was being taught in school, what most people looking to build muscle and burn fat a were taught in the media and what actually produced results IN REAL LIFE.

You see, the truth is that most of what you and I have been taught about losing fat and getting fit is a complete lie.  Not only has the information we have been given about fitness been untrue, most of it has been fabricated by greedy processed food manufacturers and drug companies in order to keep up us sick, sad, stupid and FAT.

If you think I’m full of BS, just consider the following… we have all been taught that in order to achieve health we should eat tons of grains and processes cereals like Cheerios (it’s good for your heart after all).

Well, it’s interesting that Cheerios is made of certain grains that are KNOWN gastrointestinal irritants… basically foods which cause inflammation in the colon (your gut).  Why doesn’t anyone tell you this?

Here’s why, if you notice bloating of your gut and poor digestion marked by constipation or diarrhea… the first thing you will do is go you your doctor.  He will write you a prescription for Prilosec and you or your insurance company will put money in Big Pharma’s pocket.

AND, you will go home and have another big bowl of Cheerios :)

This is just the tip of the iceberg, I also want to reveal to you:

  • Why traditional cardio and walking on treadmills is a waste of time and may even make you FATTER!
  • How to take the mystery out of burning fat without starving yourself.
  • The #1 mistake most people looking to “sculpt” their physique are making right now!
  • and much, much more!

Look, I am not here to poop on any one’s parade… I just want to show you the facts, the stuff that most people aren’t going to mention.  And that’s why I’m here, to help you BURN MORE FAT & BUILD MORE MUSCLE, the right way.

And here’s what makes this blog is so different…

Myself and Mike are experimenting with what we feel it the absolute fastest way to burn fat and build muscle.  We have both received less than optimal results following several training and diet programs in the past and like you we’re fed up.

By no means do we have all the answers, we are just 2 guys fed up the lies and slow fitness results and are using ourselves as “guinea pigs” with our Lean Hybrid Muscle training system, so that you don’t have to suffer the humiliation and set backs that we have. — So, stay tuned!

To you health & strength!

i have tried to access your The WARRIOR PHYSIQUE Report from two separate e-mail addresss and still, it says that the file is damaged and cannot be repaired or retrieved. i was wondering if there was a problem with the report itself or just the adobe acrobat reader on my computer. please get back to me at your convenience if you can because i am very interested in this report and especially with your work.

Hey Guys,

I am 50 years old…that’s right I said 50. I got Mike’s program about 8 years ago and went from 250 to 405 in my BP. It was NUTS! I got hurt, failed in business, moved to Austin, got 4 kids off to college, began new business, acheived success in business and added 50 pounds of bodyweight. I just re-ordered the updated course (remarkably similar to 8 years ago!) and have lightly started back to lifting 6 weeks ago. My BP is back to 250 but, before I get too far along in my quest to regain my power my wife is insisting I get a handle on my “rotundness!” So, I am particularly interested in your journey. I want to incorporate any/everything into my diet/exercise regimine that will take off this fat but, allow me to continue in my quest to get my strength back.

My son plays Jr High football at LB and I want to able to still “throw down” with him and his teammates when they hit HS.

Keep me in the Loop..

Hey guys,
I have been doing Shin Ohtake’s Max Workouts for a while with some pretty good results to date. Just wondering if you are familiar with his workouts and if so what the difference would be between Lean Hybrid Workouts and his.
Just curious to see if I can morph the two together somehow for a real tailored fit for myself.
Cheers
Wayne
